Hotel Linhart

Our house dates from the 17th century from the Baroque period. It has been entirely renovated and the first guests were welcomed in April2017.

The Baroque era was a time of abundance, enjoyment and renaissance. Experience sweet, chocolate, baroque Radovljica!

In our house the aromas of chocolate are combined with bistro specialities created by chef Uroš Štefelin,'Best Chef of Traditional Cuisine 2020' (Gault & Millau).

We serve natural wines, local gins, craft beers, Illy coffee, fairtrade hot chocolate, and local food.

Bistro

In the bistro delicatessen you can choose from various vegetables, cheese, meat or fish, which we cook to order, while focaccia and salad are the ideal choice when getting together for a chat. And there’s crunchy chocolate-covered fruit to try too! Why not start the day with a bourgeois breakfast or brunch in Radovljica’s Linhart Square and end it with bourgeois dreams?

The appearance of Linhart Hotel is inseparably linked to Anton Tomaž Linhart, Radovljica's most well-known resident (1756-1795). Linhart was the first Slovenian playwright and the founder of Slovenian historiography.

Anton Tomaz Linhart's most important works are Versuch einer Geschichte von Krain und den übrigen Ländern der Südlichen Slaven Oesterreichs1788, 1791 (Slovene: Poskus zgodovine Kranjske in drugih dežel južnih Slovanov Avstrije, English: An Attempt at the History of Carniola and Other Austrian Slavs), and the staging of his self-penned drama work Županova Micka (Micka, the Mayor's Daughter) on 28 December 1789. The former is regarded as the beginnings of Slovenian national historiography, while the latter meant the 'birth' of Slovenian theatre.

You can find out about his life and work at a permanent exhibition in the Municipal Museum in the Radovljica Manor.
